Welcome to the Early Music Society of Queensland

The Early Music Society of Queensland Inc. (EMSQ) brings together people with an interest in the music, instruments and dance of the medieval, renaissance, baroque, and classical periods. Our aim is to support and promote early music in Queensland.

Members play recorders, viol and other stringed instruments, many types of renaissance reed instruments such as crumhorns and rackett, baroque flute, cornetto and more. We hold workshops, concerts and have an informative bi-monthly newsletter.

EMSQ is incorporated as a non-profit society in the state of Queensland and is a registered charity with the ACNC. We are also listed on the Register of Cultural Organisations, which allows us to take tax-deductable donations over $2 from within Australia. Please ask the Treasurer if you would like to donate.

As required, we are covered for $20 million in public liability insurance.

Our mission is to support early music in Queensland to the best of our ability and in a variety of ways. Workshops, concerts, a newsletter, instrument hire to members and our library are just some of the ways we achieve this.
